Research Internships for MSc and Eng Students

We offer two full-time paid "research mentoring" internships for Engineering and Master's students. The internship is funded by the "Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs)" program of Google Research. The internship can be conducted in one of the labs of LACORO's organizers, i.e., in Santiago at the Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB), Sydney at the UNSW Sydney or Hannover at the Leibniz Universität Hannover – L3S Research Center. The funding covers all related costs (transportation, accommodation, etc.) to a limit. The funding limit and destination would imply that the internship would have different durations depending on the chosen destination.

The internship is intended to grow students' professional capital and facilitate the transition into a scientific career. As part of the internship, the students will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, research training and guidance in experimental projects that could be (part of) their thesis project. As part of the internship, the students are expected to write a report formatted as a scientific article.

For applications, when registering, please include a short project proposal of the research you would like to conduct during the internship (between 2000 and 2500 Characters in English or Spanish), and provide a link to your CV and course transcript in the registration form.

To apply, you will need to submit the following:

  • Register to LACORO 2023
  • a short research proposal (between 2000 and 2500 Characters)
  • a CV, and
  • your course transcript (list of courses with the corresponding grades).

Application for the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) will be open until Sunday, the 15th of January, 2023.
